Solanaceae tree in India

At least i assume it's a Solanaceae. Three pictures of it are here:

It was found in Mahabaleshwar, in the Western Ghats region of India.

Any ideas?

Yes, it looks very much like an Iochroma from your region. Is that what you were thinking?

It may be an introduced species and not native of India.

 

My experience and awareness are not limited to this region, of course, but I can't name the plant in question without further checking. Somebody who knows it immediately may yet appear.

 

Really does remind me of the Iochroma, though. Wait and see if the berries are small and greenish.
