this is a small rhodo (10 yr size = approx. 4 x 4 feet) with small leaves in greater Vancouver area unless this is some mislabeled nursery stock - I am surprised that the leaves have a scent something like "lemon balm" combined with "cedar" - the way at the coast we know how cedar smells (gentle, not like old cedar-lined packing trunks) is this a rhodo? any clue as to which it might be? I don't think it bloomed this past spring so I can't offer help in that regard it seems happy in our forest type garden here near Vancouver just can't figure out what our friend gifted us thank you
I think I have just answered my own question - my neighbor suggests that it is a PJM rhodo and I tend to agree based on this - from WSU over the border from us in Pullman WA http://www.pnwplants.wsu.edu/PlantDisplay.aspx?PlantID=282 I like this rhodo - agree - not as showy as some of the others - tho nice year round and for sure hardy - it is a leggier shrub so allows hostas out here at the coast and other woodland greens during the summer. this one at our cottage does go bronze-ish in the leaf during winter - as described by WSU link above thank you for your interest
