Hi, folks - I'm a newbie here. I just went to the Rough & Ready Botanical Wayside at Cave Junction, OR. and need some ID help. Here's a little plant, about 2" tall. Sorry about the quality of the whole plant pic. Someone I met there said it was one of the mimulus', but I don't think it is. What do you think?
Yes: some kind of midget mimulus that at least sometimes leaves the calyx down near the rosette and sends a trumpet-like flower out with a long tube between the calyx and the lobes, like this one but with broader leaves. http://calphotos.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/img_query?rel-taxon=begins+with&where-taxon=Mimulus+angustatus
Thanks, guys. I think it must be M. douglasii, judging by the pics at CalPhoto. I wish their db was more searchable.
