OK...I got bitten by the Wollomi Pine hype....and got all caught up and went off and propogated the family.....A Norfolk Island Pine, A Monkey Puzzle and a Wollomi Pine....

Can someone tell me how/what determines that these are in the same family of tree.....they look nothing like each other aside from the fact that they are a tree with a brown trunk and the leaves are green....but the variation in the leaves and the trunks are far and wide.......from the outside they are about as close in appearance as a cat and a dog.....

    Cheers

Similar cone structure, and with the relationship confirmed by genetic studies.

Remember there's also Agathis (kauri) in the family!
