Hello: Near Bellingham Bay WA I saw a landscape shrub with only about one blossom on 5/20/18. It has since blossomed abundantly and the bees are loving it. I wonder what plant it is? Thank you!

It's called California lilac, though it isn't closely related. This is likely Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, perhaps a cultivar of such.

Mr. Mosquin: Thank you so much! That is such a versatile, easy-going, unique, attractive plant! It's at a curve in the side street that gets a lot of vehicle traffic from people exiting parking garages, maintenance trucks, and so on. Long may it live, and may nobody hurt the bees!!! I Googled and read about it at: The Wild Garden: Hansen's Northwest Native Plant Database
    Thanks again
