I saw this plant in March of this year while passing through Birmingham, Alabama. Both the leaves are and flower petals are semi-tortuous in character. The general appearance leaves me with the impression that it may be some variety of tulip.

Regrettably, the resolution suffered significantly in making the image "Web Ready;" however, the colors presented in the photograph are very close to accurate.

Thanks in advance for your help and input.
