Red flowered tree in Morro Bay

    When we were on a road trip in Morro Bay, California, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, we saw this tree with red flowers and what appeared to be distinctive nuts / seeds. Does anyone here know what it might be?

    Yes, that looks to be correct. Thanks, Tyrlych. I wouldn't have been able to guess on my own, based on local trees - nothing like that grows up here in the Vancouver area.
