The first image is of a tree I've always thought was a water oak (quercus nigra). However the next 2 pics has me questioning things.

The leaves are similar on all three, but the bark on the first one (the one I thought was water oak) is grooved and rough. The other 2 have a relatively smooth trunk that is primarily white. So what do I have here?

Quercus marilandica with similar leaves and rough bark grows in dry upland sites.

The three pics are from 2 different trees. The first one I'm almost positive is quercus nigra.

The second two pics are different angles from the same tree. I think I understand why you suggested these were possibly blackjack, but the leaf size is small like the first one and the bark is smooth---definetly not blackjack.

    So, any ideas?
