There are two of these street trees with leaves chestnut-looking but smaller, long slender pedicels, shiny leaf tops, very long bristles on the leaves. I have one book that says leaves should be long and slender, to 20cm, whereas these are more like 13cm, but I see that Straley, in Trees of Vancouver, says 12-18cm. With the name "acutissima", I was expecting long slender leaf tips, which are only evident on a few of these leaves.

Still, is it Quercus acutissima, Japanese (or Oriental) Chestnut Oak?

The species name acutissima refers to the bristle-like serrations, as in its English name Sawtooth Oak.
