Wildflowers: Purple riverside flower

Jedediah Smith Redwoods SP, August 13, 2013. Along the bank of a river.

 

Might be Aromatic Aster, Symphyotrichum oblongifolium. ?

I am sorry, I should have mentioned that this was in Northern California.

 

I recall that from several trips to the redwoods. Don't know the name, specifically.

But if you call the Crescent City redwood park visitor center, and describe it as a tall Asther-like plant with a rather open habit (stemmy), good chance Michael (there) or one of the others can name it. They probably have a wildflower book on their bookstore shelf too.
