Hi y'all! I work in the construction business so I'm outside all day and in different areas and environments daily. Today I found these flowers growing on a large tree, and I have never seen anything like it. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA, so I know it is a plant/tree that can survive in a warm tropical and wet environment. I've attached an image of the flower, I didn't have a chance to get one of the tree. Hope someone can identify this!

    Description:

It was roughly the size of a baseball, had a curly/vine like stem, had thick petals on the backside, followed by frizzly purple spindles, a layer of white "objects" (I know that's not the correct word for those, I'm just not sure what else to call them), and another layer of those white "objects" on top of that.

Passiflora (Passion flower). You will have to get someone more expert for the species/cultivar.
