A request has been made for a list of "preferred news sites" to link to when posting news articles for discussion. Do note that this isn't a politically-preferred list, but rather a list of sites that do not seem to have decaying links. Many news sites only post their stories online for a month or two, and then the story disappears or becomes subscriber-only, hence these types of sites are not preferred). Here are some that seem to work well: BBC News CBC Sciencedaily University press releases (generally) Government press releases (e.g., Environment Canada or USDA news) National Geographic News Time.com NYTimes.com (is often ok -- but not always, I wish they'd be consistent) Please feel free to add sites that maintain their news archives freely available for many years!
