    Hi all,

I'm south of San Antonio, TX and the pond behind my house is down about 5 feet. There is weed sprouting in abundance. It does spread through the root system. They grow in large clusters. Some of them are 8' plus tall now. The trunk stays green except for a little browning near the soil. However there is evidence in the form of old stumps that were previously submerged that they are relatively dense/woody when mature. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you, togata57. I thought Sesbania might be correct as there are many similarities, however I have looked through many species and I don't think it is. We are almost into September and I have observed no flowers or seedpods. Also many of the pictures online show a darkened trunk and branching with branching near the ground. The plant in question has a green trunk with no branching near the ground. I will walk around the other side of the pond and observe some older specimens and take some better leaf pictures.
