This plant just started growing in a perfect circle around the base of one of our trees and looks real nice like we planted it there. The dark green foliage looks real pretty but I was wondering if this is something I need to pull out of the ground. It looks like some kind of sticker plant but the sprig sticking out isn't prickly, just soft and the cones growing out around that are covered in white. Can someone tell me what this is and is it okay to keep or should I be pulling it out tomorrow??? Thanks.

Thanks for your prompt response! I believe you are right! I searched the name you gave me further and that's it. I think mine is actually called "Hophornbeam Copperleaf". It looks like I will be taking out some of my landscaping tomorrow!
