It has beautiful white flowers and is about 6' 5" to 7' tall now. Can anyone identify this for me? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, after studying some picture I'd have to say that they are very similar. Do the closed flowers of plum trees look purple? Because the ones that I saw and that are in the picture are purple.

The tree in your picture is just beginning to leaf out, and prunus either flower just before or just as they are leafing out. Apple trees (Malus) flower when they are fully leafed out I believe. TonyR?

The more important differences are in details of flowers and their arrangement on the twig. In Malus the flowers are in umbel-like groups. In Prunus the floral receptacles are more cylindrical, sepals more rounded and variably fringed, and there is only a single ovary/style (cut a flower down the centre to check). Think of the fruit structure and its floral remains in apples and plums respectively.
