Not necessarily Albizia, could also be an Acacia species. Not a Mimosa though. Whereabouts is it? Location would be useful.

    Michael,

Earlier trees by POPO have been in the LA, CA area. I presume this is the same. I too thought of the Acacia, but the seedpod and general appearance seem to make Albizia julibrissin the one. Was there a reason you ruled it out? Harry

The tree commonly referred to as Mimosa in most of the country (aka Silk Tree) is Albizia julibrissin. It's extremely common and does resemble the tree in that picture. No reason that I can see that it couldn't be the right ID.

However, the genus Mimosa is not the same thing, though there are similarities.

Everyone probably already knows this, but I've run into confusion on this issue before so I thought I'd mention it.
