Attached is an image of a common garden flower in my area for which I'd appreciate a name. Thanks, David
Hi, This appears to be a pink selection of Ipomoea purpurea, commonly known as "common morning glory". This is another one of those plants that has hundreds of cultivated forms, so pinning it down to a named cultivar can be difficult. To give you an idea of the diversity of colouration, check out the Convolvulaceae at the Texas A&M Vascular Plant Image Library. Scroll down to Ipomoea purpurea and look at all the images. There are also readily found morning glory enthusiast web pages available to browse with a quick web search as well.
Thanks, Daniel. I did look at the Texas A&M site and am surprised by the variety. For my purposes, the general class of flower is sufficient, though I will try to narrow it down by checking morning glory sites, as you suggest. - David
