There is a full bush that blooms every spring the leaves are small and dark green but the flowers on this bush are a maroon or burgandy color and smell sweet. the smell travels with the wind! it's amazing. everyone asks me what it is and where i got it, but the bush was there long before me! it's about 6' tall and very full. the flower petals are very small ( kinda like wasp wings) i dont know any other way to describe it!

no, after finding a pic of that bush, that's not it. the small flowers are what has me stumped. they're no bigger than a quarter and the leaves spread all out and kinda brittle, but has the sweetest smell.
    Thanks for your help!

How many petals on each flower?

Otherwise, any chance of a photo?

Abelia? The flowers are usually white/pink, but they open from maroonish buds?
