I have an above ground garden in my backyard (suburb of Phoenix, AZ) and basically dump left over seeds from fruit, nuts, or vegetables in there...resulting in a garden with all different types of vegetables, two peach trees, and a few patches of strawberries.
I was wondering if anyone can identify what tree is seen in the included photos. I've spent hours looking online comparing leaves, thorns, branches, etc., but haven't found a match. I have three of these growing in the garden and would really like to know what they are, so I can properly care them and know what to look forward to possibly eating (if it bares fruit or nuts). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance!

Better picture of the leaves and thorns. I counted 26 leaves on most little sections of leaves...

In Arizona, I would expect it to be mesquite--those things pop up all over.
