Please help identify - Fall color landscaping shrub

    This is a common landscaping shrub in the Portland, Oregon area that seems to average 4-6 feet in height. The color has recently changed to a brillant red.

    Just a note, they can grow up to about 10-12 feet high if properly pruned and not made into the awkward dome shape that you always see poor shrubs made into.

    Probably very common cultivar 'Compactus'. This lack the prominent stem wings of the typical species, is more dense in habit than usual.
