Hello Some more plants from the cloud forest, any ideas of their genus? Would 2765 be an orchid? Many thanks
First is an Impatiens quite like those grown in large numbers in gardens elsewhere, and looking utterly pedestrian next to the other, fantastic tropical exotics.
2803 is a member of the Quinine family; we have something very similar here in Ecuador. 2779 we also have; I can´t recall the proper name of it, though. If anyone else knows, I´d like to as well. 2799 is also very familiar. I´ll look in my books when I get home. 2765 is indeed an orchid; Dendrobium pops into my mind but I know that´s not quite right. If you re-post it in the orchids forum, somebody there will probably recognise it.
Many thanks for your identifications! Lorax if you have details even in family level, I will be interested Regards dion
Dear Lila Pereszke Thank you very much - this is it! I was looking for the ID everywhere, it was difficult without knowing the family.. and there is a link to a botanist specializing on it in Missouri Bot. Garden! dion
Lila, if I wasn't halfway around the world from you I'd hug you! I've been looking for that plant name for almost a year.
First plant is for sure Impatiens walleriana. It comes from E Africa, but now is growing spontaneously in many places in tropical zone. Wojciech
(Ask here: http://www.infojardin.com/foro/forumdisplay.php?f=3 This is also a plant ID forum and there are several members from Venezuela, so I hope they can help you ID these amazing plants... :)
