In The Garden: Plant with very pale leaves

    this is a young plant in a New Zealand garden filled with exotics. Appeared to be woody, about 5' tall. Leaves about 15-20 cm long. Photographed in October.

    Perhaps Rhododendron nuttallii or a hybrid of it (the new growth looks right) with a bad case of thrips that has made the older growth go silvery.
