Plant in wilderness

    This is a wild plant found in the woods in south eastern Alabama. It is blooming now. I've not seen one more than 3-4 feet tall. Could someone identify it for me?

    Erythrina herbacea. Nice find, this was one of the highlights of our recent trip to the US Southeast a couple weeks ago. It was blooming in the Francis Marion Nat'l Forest northeast of Charleston, SC.

    Thank you SO much! I look forward to seeing them every year. I'm Canadian, have been living here 4 yrs. I have one in my yard under a dogwood, but its never bloomed. The ones I see walking in the woods are beautiful right now!
