I purchased some plants from a vendor on-line. I received the plants, promptly planted them and now they are starting to grow. Problem is, they are not what I ordered! I called the company back and they wanted me to send them back to them and they would send me what I ordered. I told them I would just keep the plants and call it even, but could I send them a picture so they could at least tell me what this plant is. They said no.

Now I am trying to identify what the plant might be. It seems very healthy, but what I ordered was a lilly, red hot poker. Oh well. I will post a couple of pics and hope one of you experts can help.

I thank you in advance for your expertise. I love gardening, flowers of all kinds and I live on 3 acres of beautiful land. My husband and I have spend many hours planting and creating a beautiful place to live.

Thank you so much! I live in Brunswick, Ga, so They probably will not get enough cold to bloom. Peonys are so beautiful. They are a nicer plant that I originally ordered, however, I am afraid they will need more cold than we get here in zone 8/9. Thank you for your quick response and expertise.

I know some people who are successfully growing peonies in Macon Georgia.
As near as I can tell... peonies grow better here in part shade. The peonies planted in full sun... have never bloomed.

Lack of flowering would be due to deep planting, soil infertility or other issue and not due to full sun exposure.

    Uh...
Have you grown peonies in the deep south?

I love peonys and I will plant them in a partially shaded area and see what happens. I have no idea what variety they are, but all peonys are beautiful to me. Thanks for the input.
