Hello can anyone identify this flower? I'm desperately trying to find the source of the image to get permission to use it in an academic paper. Paul
A guess would be the Onagraceae family, maybe a Ludwigia, if that is a pod I see near the bottom of it.
Could you suggest some keywords that could be used to find info on the plant apart from the obvious? I'm trying to find the origin of the image!
Where did you get the image? Look at the label of the image on your computer and search for that. Such as swampflower.jpg The image labels are changed when they are uploaded to this site.
Sometimes books are better than the internet for plant ID. You must have some idea of why you are using the image in an academic paper, and so I imagine you know a bit about it. Depending on whether it is a tropical or hardy plant, shrub or perennial, Australian, Tibetan, or Irish native, you can probably find a book on the topic to identify the plant. To help find the image, you can do a google image search of the plant name, assuming the originator of the image has used some version of the plant name to label it. I also wonder if you can't retrace your virtual steps to rediscover the image the same way you did in the first place.
It's not an academic paper on plants! The problem is I don't have the original file, it is simply pasted into a word document. The image was selected purely on the merits of its content and that's what I want to point out in my work! You see the problem? :-(
