Hi all, this rambunctious herbaceous plant is spreading through our garden-- can you help me identify it and learn about it? I've been watching it for a few years now but haven't let it go to seed-- I actually haven't seen it flower-- so it must be spreading through vegetative propagation? I've tried not to disturb the soil too much, while removing what I can. I don't want to vilify this plant, but I do need to get to know it quickly because it definitely is asking for attentions and space.

I've attached lots of pics: you'll see that it the plant has thin reddish stems then fine roots-- often these are long and tangled making it really hard to remove it all. When I've been able to dig deep enough without snapping the roots, I sometimes reach a bulbous root...I might try leaving a little area to flower if I'm not able to get any leads off the current photos.

    Many thanks for the help!

Such a pretty flower - but as I learnt - very very invasive!
