Plant ID - corkscrew stem

    Found this plant (or plant parts?) today. Stems are tight corkscrew with bulb on end - seed pod or perhaps bloom? Each stem is 2 to 3 inches in length. Nearly same colour as soil. In open and very dry shade. Found between sword fern and salal. Thanks! 20190712_201326.jpg
