There are two sets of pictures. The tall ones along the fence are in the wild along a ditch. The smaller one was recently given to me and planted about two weeks ago. According to the giver this flower is favoured by numerous butterflies including the Monarch.

    Two questions.
What are the plants? Are they the same?

One is Helianthus, possibly H. tuberosus. The other looks like Rudbeckia laciniata.
