Wildflowers: pink multi-flower to a stem, southwest colorado

    Looks like Primula parryi... + a Canis lupus familiaris ? :)

    Another genus with a tiny number of species in western North America and a much larger number of them elsewhere. Other examples: Aesculus, Rhododendron. It is quite curious with Primula in particular how there is the same few species spread over a huge area of mountains here, with instead many different species congregating in the mountains of the Sino-Himalayan region etc. I can think of reasons why that might be, but those don't make the dichotomy less striking.
