Ornamental tree in bloom

    This branch of flowers is from an ornamental tree used by the city of Neuchatel, Switzerland to decorate one of the local parking areas. Can you help me identify it?

    The trees are about 10-12 feet tall but are likely to be full grown. They don't seem to bear any fruit. (They may produce a small hard looking "berry")

    I'm surprised. Usually someone has ID'd the stuff I post within a few hours.

    Anyway, might this be PRUNUS nipponica var. kurilensis or some other Prunus?

    OK, so Prunus and probably accolade. I'll look at more of the prunus tomorrow. thanks want to confirm but it looks like I'm at least going in the right direction.
