Hey everyone, I just wanted to know what kind of Maple this is in the first picture.

I also have a problem with a Oak tree. I believe it is a Red Oak - Quercus rubra. There seems to be some branches dying near the bottom facing the back of the house. The front of the 2-storey house is facing west. It seems to look like a rust or a tar spot.

I have the book Diseases of Trees & Shrubs 2nd Edition. Some of the pictures on page 101 (Oak Anthracnose) seem to be like the leaves, but not really. I'm not sure if the oak i have is different or not.

One main problem is by the roots. The ball seems to be planted a bit to high. This tree is probably 30 years old, i am assuming. Some of the small roots are exposed. Which in that case should be covered with mulch to protect them.

I am just curious as to what kind of disease this Oak has and how it can be treated. There is also a white powdery mildue on the oak leaves in the second pictures. yet another problem with this one.

Acer rubrum. Oak looks in this view more like Q. palustris than Q. rubra.
