Found this plant along the coast of Newfoundland. We don't frequent ocean often so may be more common than I know, but curious as to ID. Photo attached. Thanks , Steve
I think this is Mertensia maritima aka oysterleaf or sea bluebells. See this reference for a floristic description: Flora of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago (scroll down). The freckles on the leaves are salt glands, which make sense for a seaside plant.
