Thanks...don't want to dig it up as it takes up a very large area in my front yard, but it is growing like something out of a sci-fi movie :)

It's too aggressive for a low maintenance landscape in a moist climate.
In my drought stricken Texas climate it gets pruned twice a Summer at most.

I am in Georgia...what does pruning look like-how aggressive should I be with this plant when pruning?

I wouldn't do that til near the last frost date for your area.
New growth (caused by pruning) too early is easily damaged by cold.

This link gives a possible control strategy. They say
lime (high pH) is prone to weaken the plant. (Not in my experience)
However it may slow growth which is what you want.
