New finds in my yard. I let the second plant grow as I'm not sure if it is a weed or not. It feels much like a silver mound, but has a flower head. The other one made itself at home in my yard this year. Annual? Perrenial? Weed?
I agree on the gnaphalium, but am not convinced of the other. Don't they have yellow flowers? I will have to do more research.
Lila is correct, garden cultivars of Verbascum now come in many different shades.Yes, the wild form Verbascum thapsus has yellow flowers. The red centre to the flower is a character of Moth Mullein (Verbascum blattaria) cultivars; white flowers are also common in this species.
Thanks folks! I had looked on the internet, but apparently not in the right places as I only cam up with the second set of images Silver Surfer sent. Yes, indeed it is verbascum. I like it! I think I will keep it!!
