New finds in my yard. I let the second plant grow as I'm not sure if it is a weed or not. It feels much like a silver mound, but has a flower head. The other one made itself at home in my yard this year. Annual? Perrenial? Weed?

I agree on the gnaphalium, but am not convinced of the other. Don't they have yellow flowers? I will have to do more research.

The red centre to the flower is a character of Moth Mullein (Verbascum blattaria) cultivars; white flowers are also common in this species.

Thanks folks! I had looked on the internet, but apparently not in the right places as I only cam up with the second set of images Silver Surfer sent. Yes, indeed it is verbascum. I like it! I think I will keep it!!
