Sorry in advance for lack of quality photos. :-( So in June I took the wife to Nelson and Ainsworth BC and I noticed a nice plant that I would like to grow at my own house in Liberty Lake, WA. It was just outside of Nelson BC North of the lake on 2-4 private properties. I do not believe this mystery plant to be native to the area, not to say it isn't native to BC. It had nice large leaves and a cane like stem, and reminded me of a broad-leaved bamboo if you will. Each stalk grew approximately 3-6 inches from one another and was too thick to see through when the plants were more than 12" thick. That is probably why the property owners had it between their homes and the road. It made a nice privacy barrier. So this weekend I took my wife and our kids back to Ainsworth, BC and noticed a couple of the properties that had this plant, minus leaves. I hadn't enough time nor was feeling noisy enough to bother the property owners to ask them what it was. I thought I could type a description into google and find it.... Nope, but Google Streetview did get me some grainy pics. Please see below image and let me know what you think this fine plant might be so I can legally order some online instead of thinking about bringing some back from BC (I wouldn't, though I would be tempted).

Chimera, Thank you. I am pretty sure that is the proper ID. After reading the non-native/invasive link I don't think I will be acquiring this specimen.
