This is in MO, USA. I have read that wild grape seeds should have 2+ seeds. I find a vine that look very much like a wild grape vine. The thing is, their is only one seed per grape. One did come into 3 parts, but Im not sure if those were really 3 seeds or I broke the one into parts. The seeds are not flat, so I don't think it could be moonseed. See the pictures for details of the leaf, fruit, and seed. fruit seed "arms" leaves Hopefully someone here can help me figure this out. I am stumped what else besides a grape it could be, but can it be a grape with only one seed per fruit? It definitely wasn't planted where I found it (behind a trash can)
Ampelopsis brevipedunculata. A specimen with somewhat unusual leaves (not lobed as they often are), but the fruit is typical. This photo has similar leaves: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Ampelopsis_brevipedunculata_var._hancei_soann-pho-to_001.jpg This one shows the fruit: http://www.botanik.uni-karlsruhe.de...edunculata var. maximowiczii Scheinrebe 1.jpg An invasive weed in much of the eastern USA.
Dang, you guys are right, this thing isn't a wild grape! I think it is Ampelopsis cordata (check the leaves) which is listed as very common in my area. Thanks!
