This came in a bouquet of flowers yesterday. The other flowers were the typical mums, salal, gerbera daisy etc. anyone know what this one is?? It's stem is almost hollow. Really a neat flower. (Ignore my husbands arm in the photo)
Hello Buzzbee it is commonly known as cocks comb it is a relative of amaranth (lovelies bleeding) and is in the genus Celosia
thanks so much. I have never seen this in a typical Corner store flower arrangement, or anywhere for that matter. Will do a google search on it. Thanks again. Buzz
I actually had a variety of these growing in my garden but they looked nothing like this one. They had a very short stem and were more feather like in a variety of colors. Nice to know the name to go with the plants. Thanks again.
That would be Celosia 'Cristata', correctly C. argentea 'Cristata'. It's a crested cultivar ('Cristata') of C. argentea, not a wild species C. cristata.
