I live in South Carolina and am trying to identify this tree. I see it around normally in a grouping and really like it. Can anyone help? This isn't the best picture, but in the middle there are a bunch of trees with very skinny trunks (right behind black truck) and the leaves kind of fan out at the top. They seem to stay green/yellowish all year down here. Any thoughts? Thanks!
If you're talking about the bits in the middle, behind the truck, you're talking about a bamboo, not a tree. Probably Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys Aurea), as noted. If that's the case, and it's something you want, take a good long look at how invasive it is. If you still want it, and can contain it, just dig out a 12" clump and get ready for hell next Spring. P. Aurea actually takes an astonishing amount of neglect to kill...
Branching habit doesn't look like that of P. aurea to me. Closer views required to identify below the genus level.
Well, there you go! You got the "trees" you asked for, as well as the other things growing in the pic.
