Name Please ?

I bought this plant around a month ago from a nearby nursery. It was under the section “Sun Perennial” which means they require full sun. There was no tag with it and I didn’t bother much at the time. But now I feel that this plant might need more water then I usually give and therefore I need a name to do research on how to take better care for it. And I knew this is the place to start.

You will get stronger growth and bigger flower spikes if you get it out of the pot.

 

Oo, the pot doesnt have the bottom.. I actually cut the bottom when I planted it because someone told me that this carboard kind of pot can dissolve into mud or something...so thats why I just cut the bottom and planted it with the pot...does that matter ??
Plus, I got one more question....the big stalks dont have flowers now anymore and the tiny new ones are growing from the ground... should I cut the big ones then ?? They dont have flowers or even leaves on them now...
