I have been given seeds to a beautiful plant, but I want to know more about it. Here's what I do know:
    Annual
Climbing vine (sorta like a sweet pea)
    Purple flowers
    Purplish leaves & vine
Seed pods are purple until they begin to dry, then turn yellowish-brown

The gentleman who gave me the seeds (look like black & white beans) said he had planted six seeds. The plants were climbing a post to a height of about ten (10) feet, very full, about 30 inches in diameter.

I would like to propagate these & share seeds, but don't know what to call it, or if it is patended. Thank you!

Ron, that was a good link about the Hyacinth bean, I had heard conflicting things about the edibility of them and that helped clear up the confusion. Funny, I don't remember any fragrance the one time I grew it. It likes warm temperatures and it didn't bloom till late in the season in my Pacific Northwest area and the seeds didn't ripen enough for me to try and save them. I think I prefer the Scarlet runner bean here and would like to try the 'Painted Lady' variety. They are easy to save the seeds of. They are good to eat when young but do have a string like old fashioned string beans.
