Our two-year old monkeypuzzle tree became the target of two male deer competing for territory. It is badly damaged: the trunk is deeply scratched and torn for a length of 6" and 1/3rd circumference. One branch was ripped off and two other are hanging by their outer skin, i.e., a thread. How do we deal with repairs and protecting it from infection? We want to keep it alive if possible despite its appearance. Thank you.

Not much you can do, apart from put a cage round it to stop the deer from doing any more damage. But don't worry too much, even if the top dies completely, it'll regrow from the stump, they can even be coppiced.
