Hi my friend has a old monkey tree that has taken a turn for the worst, 3/4 of the tree looks dead some dead branches several dark brown but flexible, top branches are healthy green, several weeping cracks in the truck. Can it be saved? Or should it be taken down?
Doesn't look good, unfortunately - my guess would be a root disease, but impossible to be sure from photos alone. When the cones at the top break up and fall, collect the seeds to see if any can be grown on for the next generation.
Hello thank you for the reply, the road had been renovated to put a round a bout in so I thought too if it was possible somehow the roots were effected.
