Hi I have a monkey puzzel tree which is about 18ft tall and it's lowest branches from the base of the tree is 8ins, which is growing in my rockery.My question is can you prune back the lower branches without harming it? Thanks John
England Conifers generally, especially young specimens are most attractive furnished to the base, like a Christmas tree. However, if you must obtain some clearance, cut the offending branches off at their point of origin, at the trunk.
