    Deer behavior varies. It always gets back to fencing them out effectively and no longer being subject to their whims and results of their own circumstances, like hard winters that cause them to unexpectedly destroy specimens they ignored for years beforehand.

    Thanks for the reply. I live in zone 7b and believe that a monkey puzzle will overwinter nicely here. My problem is finding a source for purchasing one or two to test it out. Does anyone have a source in the southern US?

    Oh, Maureen. You dashed my hopes. Onthe coast of NC I have been able to grown them but haven't tried here in the Piedmont.
