Dear HortBoard: My 45 ft high Monkey Puzzle tree is dropping an increasing number of heavy, barbed nuts/pods. I am concerned about safety and would like to trim the pods before they drop. The tree is rare in this area (Los Angeles) and most local tree trimmers are not familiar with it. I would be most appreciative for any advice regarding the proper way/time to remove the nuts before they drop. Also: would topping the tree eliminate the pods/nuts? Appreciatively, Mel
