The plant grows in the ground or in a pot with regular potting mix. Shade tolerant, but can take a few hours of sun. It has long green leaves 12 to 24 inches or so (to a point). It produces a pod which produces one flower at the top of the stem. The flower dies each evening and then a new one is produced the next day from the same pod (The current plant has had 12 or so flowers from the same pod). When the plant finally stops producing a flower on that stem you can pull off the stem at the bulb (about 1/2 way up the stem) and stick it in the ground and it will produce another plant. The flower is probably 1 inch in diameter and is yellow with black specks..Looks like a very very small orchid. What is it?
It looks very much like a species in the genus Moraea, which is not an orchid but a member of the Iridaceae family. Leaves, flower stalk, and spent flowers also support the Iris relation.
I searched on Trimezia and found that it is a Trimezia martinicensis. You are soooo smart. Thank you for helping me.
