here's an odd story... my grandmother said that about ten years ago, she was in Vancouver visiting someone and saw these great flowers which she took a cutting of and brought back to Toronto (not sure if that's true!)

anyway, she would always break a branch off before the first frost and let it root in water and plant the following year. 3 years ago, she gave my wife and i a few cuttings... they grew great outdoors, but this past winter, little white 'mites' created webs and nearly wiped them all out indoors.

i'm wondering if i can buy some replacements here... i'd describe the plant as:
    - similar foliage and flowers to New Guinea Impatiens
    - but with a few less leaves (not as dense) and perhaps more of a light lime coloured leaf
    - the leaves had a WHITE trim around their edges...
    - the flowers were hot pink like impatients

these were great with the pink contrasting the white on the leaves, by the end of the summer, they were fairly tall and bushing (about 1 foot tall) again similar to regular impatiens.

any idea what they are? because of her story, perhaps they're more plentiful out West? I think i've only seen one other garden here with them a long time ago.

    :-(

    Not so odd.

Most likely its still a "New Guinea Impatiens" but with white margins on the leaves. There are many cultivars of them in various leaf colors as well as flower colors.
