I bought a couple of ornamental onions at the Van Dusen plant sale about 4 years ago - 'Ivory Queen' was one but unfortunately I lost the tag for the other. I thought at first it was 'Summer Drummer' but as its been growing bigger over the past couple of years I started to think that maybe it was twisted leaf garlic - Allium obliquum - because the leaves have a twist to them. Finally about a month ago it started sending up a flower stalk but still hasn't open yet.
This stalk now makes the plant about 2m tall, but its not a round bud so I'm stumped as to what I have.
Any thoughts on what it might be would be appreciated while I wait for the bud to open.

Unknown allium (circled in upper right corner) compared to 'Ambassador' in the foreground - it should be noted that the unknown is located an additional 0.5m below 'Ambassador' on a lower terrace

Maybe safer to id after the flowers open.
Allium Summer Drummer is very tall and has pointed buds as in your pic..it is a late flowering Allium.
