These are plants I found in a local park. Right now I am trying to learn edible plants in the area to vut back food costs. I would really appreciate ID's, thank you :)
The first pic looks like Ilex, not edible, and the final looks like Nanking cherry, which is. Can't help on the inbetweeners, though. Where in the Midwest are you? It will be easier to identify your plants if you tell us your home state.
That makes the cherry much more likely. The plant in Pic 2 is really familiar, but I can't quite place it.
The little dots make #1 look to me like a Canada Buffaloberry shepherdia canadensis, but maybe I'm just too patriotic
#2 Lonicera. #4 Looks like seedhead on an arum, e.g. Arum italicum. #5 The leaves don't match nanking cherry; another lonicera? There are no chokecherries among your pictures.
#2 could be a chokecherry, just not quite ripe yet. if so they should darken a lot in the next few weeks.
Chokecherry (Prunus pennsylvanica) has pointed and finely serrated leaves; the flowers and therefore the berries are arranged on a cylindrical axis (raceme); there is no "pip" at the end of the berries. Therefore, #2 is not chokecherry.
You are right of course, no chokecherry. I wasn't looking right. #3 indeed looks just like the bidens cernua we have around here.
Just found the rest of the pics, hope this helps, berry on top, then the bark of the tree is under it
