Can someone PLEASE help me in identifying this beautiful flowering tree. I live in Zone 5, and these trees are in bloom now, the first to bloom. They have lavendar colored flowers, very wispy,(almost as wispy as a willow tree) multiple trunks, but not very big. I would appreciate any help I can receive!!! Thank You.

Can you post a picture? Do they smell like Lilacs? What shape are the leaves?

I'm sorry, I don't have a pic or didn't get close enough to see the shape of the leaves

That's going to make it harder. I'd suspect that they're Lilacs, since those should be starting to bloom about now, but without anything further to go on I can't be certain.

    Re: Lavender Color Flowering Tree

I should be a bit more clearer. The COLOR of the flower that blooms on this feathery, wispy tree is Lavender. Thank You

a pic would really be a big help.

from your description, i don't think this is a tree. sounds like lilac bushes...which can have white or lavendar flowers.

If it is really wispy, then it might be a Tamarix.

In flower now makes me suspect Paulownia tomentosa. Lilacs and Tamarisks won't be in flower yet in zone 5.
